Administered oath as the Acting Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar made it clear that he would be taking all the judges along in the decision making process—- a significant assertion in the backdrop of controversies witnessed by the High Court in the recent past.
Talking to the media soon after he was administered oath by Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil , Acting Chief Justice Vazifdar said he would consult all the Judges on issues such as tackling the ever mounting pendency of cases and filling up the vacancies.
Earlier during the day, Acting Chief Justice Vazifdar swore to “bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established” during the simple, but impressive, ceremony attended by sitting and former judges of the high court and Supreme Court, bureaucrats, relatives and advocates. Prominent among the former Judges were Supreme Court’s former Judge, Justice H.S. Bedi, Allahabad High Court’s former Chief Justice S.S. Sodhi, and former Chief Justice of the Andhra High Court, Justice Manmohan Singh Liberhan.
